Control your color-changing lights from your smartphone or tablet.
The Aquascape Smart Control app works with all smart control products, including color-changing lights equipped with a Smart Control Hub. Once you have the Smart Control Hub connected to your Aquascape lights, use the instructions below to pair your smartphone or tablet:
1. Download the Aquascape Smart Control App.
2. Open the Aquascape Smart Control App and click the 'Sign Up' button.
Then follow the instructions on the screen to create your account. You will be able to control all of your Aquascape Smart Devices from this account. If you already have an account, then simply open the app and move on to Step 3.
3. Verify your Wi-Fi Connection.
You’ll need a strong 2.4 ghz Wi-Fi signal. (5.0 ghz Wi-Fi will not work.) Most modern Wi-Fi routers emit both frequencies.
Keep in mind the 2.4 signal is significantly weakened if it has to pass through multiple walls or objects to reach your device. The best option to ensure the strongest possible signal is having line of sight between your devices and your Wi-Fi router. If that is not possible, Wi-Fi range extenders may be needed to reduce the physical barriers.
If you’re not sure if your Wi-Fi signal is strong enough, download a free app like Wi-Fi Sweetspots to check your connection. Aquascape recommends a reading of at least 10 Mbps.
4. Open your Wi-Fi settings on your iPhone and select your device as a network. Look for Aquascape Lights-... or something similar.
Your Aquascape Smart device creates a temporary Wi-Fi network during the setup process. After it is paired this temporary network will not be visible.
If you haven’t already paired it and you don’t see the device available as a network:
- Try soft resetting by unplugging the device, waiting a few seconds and plugging it back in.
- Turn your phone’s Wi-FI off and then back on.
- Check for any phone software updates.

If it is still does not show up as an available Wi-FI network, you will need to perform a DOUBLE FACTORY RESET.
To perform a double factory reset:
- Push and hold the blue button for 10 seconds. You should notice the blue light changing its behavior from fast blinking to slow or vice versa.
- Unplug and wait 10 seconds, then plug in again.
Repeat the reset procedure a second time. It should now show up as an available Wi-Fi network.
5.Verify that the blue light on the face of the unit is blinking.
This indicates the plug is in pairing mode and ready to be connected.
Keep in mind your device is programmed to look for firmware updates in the background. If you are seeing the light behavior changing blinking speeds, it may be because it is currently getting a firmware update. (As of November 2020 the firmware version was 0.3.3.) This could briefly delay the pairing process.
7. Enter your Wi-Fi network name and password for the Wi-Fi to which the unit will connect.
Typically this is your home Wi-Fi network’s 2.4 ghz band.
8. Continue to follow on-screen instructions to complete the pairing process.
After performing the Final Check, the App will prompt you to add another device or Exit this setup to return to the App to control your new device.
9. Enjoy your new color-changing lights!
App not working? You might not have strong enough Wi-Fi next to your pond. But no worries – you can still control your lights with a handheld remote.
