We're looking for a Fish Room Specialist!
Position Type: Full-time in-season; reduced hours off-season
Do you love koi and other pond fish while working with people who are just as passionate as you are? The Splash Supply Co. retail store is growing and looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Fish Room Specialist to join our amazing team!
This role is perfect for someone with hands-on experience caring for koi, goldfish, and other creatures and who enjoys sharing their knowledge of fish health and happiness. The Fish Room Specialist is responsible for the care and maintenance of our fish retailing systems, ensuring fish health and water quality standards are met.
This person will also work alongside the retail team to assist customers, stock products, and help wherever necessary to ensure smooth store operations.
Ideal Candidate
- Prior experience with koi, pond fish, and/or aquariums
- Prior sales/customer service experience
- Strong interest in fish health, water quality, and proper care practices
- History of dependability, strong attention to detail, and organizational skills
- Ability to lift 40–50 lbs and maintain a clean, safe work environment
- Willingness to continue learning and expanding fish care knowledge
- Comfortable identifying common fish health concerns and basic treatments
- Familiar with attributes of Japanese koi, such as colors, patterns, etc.
- Friendly, team oriented, and confident when speaking with customers
- Able to work Saturdays
We will provide on-the-job training for the right candidate, but applicants with prior fish or aquarium experience will thrive in this role
Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain fish retail systems, monitor water quality, filtration systems, and overall fish health
- Observe koi and fish behavior to identify potential health issues
- Receive, acclimate, and organize new shipments
- Assist customers with selecting koi and fish appropriate for their ponds
- Support sales of fish and related products while delivering excellent customer service
